Orual cannot recall what she babbles through tears and laughter before Bardia warns bright-faced Psyche may be a wraith or goddess, for she is the bride of the god. Other than the rags she wears, Psyche appears to be well and welcomes Orual as Maia. She is happy they have come, as she knew they would. She may invite only Orual to cross the stream. Bardia, feeling it a dreadful place, is happy to remain behind. Psyche helps Orual ford the cold, swift current, and they sit together, holding hands as they had on the last night in Psyche's prison. Psyche offers Orual berries and wine and suggests they be merry and let their hearts dance. Orual is happy enough to forgive the gods and perhaps even Redival some day, but.....
