Chapters 36-41 Summary

In chapter 36, the skinwalkers silently approach the expedition's camp over a hidden trail called the Priest's Trail. The skinwalkers go to the shelf where the communications equipment is kept and smash it, rendering it useless. On their way out, they stop to sprinkle corpse powder on a member of the expedition's team. In chapter 37, Peter Holroyd wakes out of a dream and feels as though he has dust on his face. Peter hears a noise, then another, and gets up to investigate. Peter finds the noise is Sloane and Aaron Black making love in the grove of cottonwood trees. In chapter 38, Nora and Smithback return through the slot canyon to the camp and learn that the communication equipment has been destroyed, but the weather radio remains.
