Summary

In Chapter One, the narrator (later revealed to be Sam) explains that she has a perfect memory, and retreats to them to keep herself sane. The white coats say that will overload her brain, but she does not believe them as she has spent years perfecting it. She remembers the day her Dad took her to school knowing that she would be sent to a rehabilitation camp. Sam thinks he would love her more if she were dead. She thinks of the empty bed where Ruby used to sleep, but no one remembers the girl. A PSF arrives and escorts the girls outside where they see a group of Reds.
