"Three Thanksgivings" takes place mainly at the Welcome House, which quickly becomes the focal point of the story. Mrs. Morrison loves her home, a fact that is made clear at the beginning of the story: "Even after living with her father at Washington and abroad, after visiting hall, castle and palace, she still found the Welcome House beautiful and impressive." It is because of the house that Mrs. Morrison is forced to look at her options. She does not have enough money to pay the mortgage, and at first it looks as if she will not be able to do anything to raise enough money.
