Chapter 9 Summary

That night, Stephanie stacks some pots in front of the door to warn her if Ranger breaks into her apartment. However, Ranger somehow manages to get inside without knocking the pots over. Again Ranger drags Stephanie out on a run. The run does not go smoothly. Stephanie trips Ranger by accident and causes him to pull his groin. Back at her apartment, Stephanie gets a call from her mechanic telling her she needs a new carburetor. Stephanie okays the repair and then goes into the office. Once there, Stephanie learns that Lula has gotten a phone call from Leroy Watkins' girlfriend, telling them Leroy is back at the apartment. Lula and Stephanie go and knock on Leroy's door, but do not get an answer. When they discover the door is unlocked, Stephanie and Lula begin to search the small apartment. When Lula opens...
