The man who sees the need for a school building for children of Pakistan and who decides to do something about it. He sets out to raise enough money to build the structure but takes it a step farther. Rather than just sending the money to build the structure, he travels back the country himself, personally taking on the task of gathering the materials and overseeing the construction. Greg is a self-proclaimed nonbeliever in Christianity, despite the fact that his parents were missionaries and he was raised in that environment. He is, however, open to ideas about religion and soon sets out to learn the ways of Islam. Greg is a climber from early in the story and climbing is the one thing that holds his attention and gives him direction prior to the project of building the school.
