Summary

In Chapter 21, after reaching the next town, the friends discovered their names in the paper for kidnapping and murder. The article also reported finding Billy's body. Odie remained haunted by Jack's murder. That night, a man named Hawk Flies at Night, or Forrest, joined their fire. Through Emmy, Forrest and Mose spoke in Sioux. Noticing the man was drinking, the friends grew worried.

In Chapter 22, the friends fled Forrest in the night. When they finally stopped, Albert said they were going to St. Louis. He had found a letter from their Aunt Julia in the bag. Odie felt hopeful. At the next town, they heard a beautiful voice singing.
