Summary

In Chapter 5, at 10:07 a.m. Fareed locks himself and Tomas into the principal’s office and calls 911. As Tomas listens to his friend’s seriousness on the phone, he realizes he has never seen this side of Fareed before. Tomas remembers all of the instructions they were given during lockdown drills including instructions to run away if possible. Because he knows his sister and others are in danger in the auditorium, he does not think that running away and saving himself seem to be the right thing to do.

Sylv closes her eyes and sees her brother, Tomas, and Autumn, the people who mean most to her. She remembers how Tyler came between all of them. She knows that if she told what Tyler had done to her, Tomas would have killed him but it would also have torn Autumn’s family apart...
