Summary

In Chapter 39, Joy knew she could not stay in Los Angeles for two months. She did not enjoy the Los Angeles sun and she did she think the place was particularly beautiful. Even though Molly and Freddie tried to keep her happy and entertained, Joy still felt lonely. She felt as if she had no life and belonged nowhere. She thought she was annoying and that Molly and Freddie were crazy for putting up with her.

Molly confided to Freddie that she thought her mother missed Karl and Freddie point out that Joy might be more like Duncan than they thought. Based on that, Molly decided it would be a great idea to take Joy to meet Duncan. Duncan was taken with Joy and kept trying to put his hand on her knee. Afterward, Joy admitted to herself she was even more afraid...
