Summary

Chapter 21 covers Day 20 in the novel. In the morning, the keeper opened the gate between the bonobos’ sleeping area and the enclosure, but they did not bother looking for hidden fruit. They assumed it would all be printed, not real, so they looked to Frankie on the balcony instead. After she tossed her fresh fruit to them, they grudgingly looked for the bland printed version.

Lucy found a hidden piece of real fruit and peeped, but Petey grabbed it from her. Every female chased after him then, with their teeth showing, and he cowered in a corner. The females barked and waved branches at him for a while; then they left to nap. In response, Frankie told her Bindi to double her fruit order. She hesitated when she heard how much it would cost, but she still confirmed the order. Her BodyWare was slow...
