Summary

In February of 1991, Sedaris got a call from Elaine with a possible job offer. The position entailed working for an Italian woman named Alba, who ran a small press, and who needed a personal assistant for two days a week. After meeting with Alba, Sedaris understood that the press is more of a hobby for her. The assistant, therefore, would be taking care of all the aspects of the press she avoided. The last person who worked for her was paid $10 an hour, so when Alba offered Sedaris $7 an hour, he told her that it was not enough, to which she responded that she would be talking to some other people.
