Summary

Chapter 4 opens with a photo of Fannie and Burt Robinson on their wedding day in 1969. Bridgett recalled her feeling when her father moved out and announced he and Fannie were getting a divorce in 1968. A few months later, Fannie and two of her close friends went on vacation in Florida. They had several pictures taken during their stay at the luxurious Fountainbleau. At one point, a woman asked Fannie how she got such a lovely tan. Fannie answered she was born with it. Even though they were in the South where racial boundaries still existed, her ability to afford the luxurious hotel gave her the power to speak her mind.
