Summary

In Chapter 13, Anthony comes to after fainting in Chapter 12 when he sees Damian's body. At Anthony’s request, Hawthorne helps him up, but hesitates before doing so. Anthony tires to figure out why someone would kill Damian. Hawthorne leaves him to check the apartment. Anthony calls him back because he thinks he hears Damian groans. However, Hawthorne tells him the source of the sound. Anthony regrets having agreed to write the book. There is no one else in the apartment. Anthony realizes that Hawthorne knew that someone was going to kill Damian. Hawthorne explains that he thought someone would do so because of the missing keys in Diana's apartment.
