Summary

In “The Dead Body,” two boys found Bud’s prosthetic arm under a tree. But, he believed they were seeing a real arm attached to a dead body. They ran to the road where they flagged down a driver to call 911.

When Geena started her shift, the other firefighters told her about the dead body that turned out to be only a prosthetic arm. They had dug around the tree to make sure there was nothing else there and found a mason jar with some papers inside. Geena told them she knew someone who had lost a prosthetic arm a few years prior, his name was Bud Threadgoode. One of the firemen recognized the name because it was the same last name that was on the papers, a land deed from the ’30s.
