Anna Fox

Anna Fox is the main character and narrator of this novel. She suffers agoraphobia, panic attacks, and post-traumatic stress disorder after she unintentionally drove her family’s car off a cliff on the way home from a Vermont vacation. Both her husband and her daughter died as a result of the crash. Anna suffered a bruised spine and damaged windpipe. Thirty-three hours passed between the time that the wreck happened and help finally arrived. Anna spent the time trying to keep her family alive in the freezing temperatures and snowstorm but they died anyway. It was this experience that caused her emotional disorders including her fear of open spaces.
