Part Two: Chapters 23-26 Summary

LuAnn's interaction with Donovan left her shaken. She was now thirty years old and had spent a third of her life running. Every day was filled with the fear of being discovered, and she had created a complicated veneer to protect herself and Lisa. Her general contractor, Matt Riggs, had sustained damage to his truck in the car chase and proceeded to the house to ask for help. When LuAnn returned to the house, she rebuffed Matt, insisting she could take care of herself, and there was no problem. She clearly didn't want to admit any additional people into her tight inner circle. Matt is confused but excuses himself and leaves for the evening. Later, when LuAnn recaps the events for Charlie, she explains that she is most afraid of what will happen when their lives unravel...
