Section 2: Chapters 2-3 Summary

In Chapter 2, Hock Seng orders the works to lift the spindle so Mai can slip underneath and inspect the damage. The sight of the megodont's carnage reminds him of how his own people were similarly dismembered. He checks in on Anderson who is being treated by Dr. Chan, reminding her that she needs to keep the foreigner alive to sign their paychecks because it would be disastrous for the factory if he died. Once Dr. Chan finishes with Anderson, Hock Seng pays her and asks her to deliver a note to the boss of her tower. Returning to the present, Hock Seng thinks about the blueprints in the safe which only Anderson can access. The generation of energy storage is Hock Seng's only hope of resurrection for himself and his clan, but the energy he spent garnering Yates' trust...
