Jaxom

Jaxom is the underage Lord Holder at Ruatha Hold. His guardian is Lytol because Jaxom's mother died in childbirth and his father died in a battle with F'lar moments later. Lessa was a blood heir to Ruatha but renounces her birthright to Jaxom and helps him to become the leader Ruatha needs.

Jaxom rides a white dragon named Ruth. Ruth is smaller than the other dragons. Jaxom feels at times that Ruth is not really a dragon and that he himself is not really the Lord Holder because he is too young, but he is not a dragonrider either because they restrict his dragonriding duties. The story consists largely of Jaxom growing up and finding his place in his world. He is someone who fights for what is right and is quick to act.
