Chapter 1-3 Summary

"The White Dragon" by Anne McCaffrey is the final book in "The Dragonriders of Pern" trilogy. This book focuses mainly on Jaxom and his white dragon, Ruth, and the struggles they face. Young Jaxom will have to figure out whether he will become the Lord of Ruatha Hold or a dragonrider of Pern.

The story begins with Jaxom, the young Lord of Ruatha, cleaning his dragon, Ruth. Ruth is a white dragon that was born a runt. Jaxom has been wanting to ride Ruth in the skies but some worry that Ruth is too small. Jaxom gets himself and his dragon ready for inspection by Weyrleaders, the riders of the bronze dragons, and Lords of other Holds (which is where most people of Pern live).
