Point of View

The novel is told in a third-person-past narration that switches back and forth between Alexa and Drew. Alexa’s sections start and end the novel, and they are also slightly longer and more detailed than Drew’s sections, which set her apart as the true main character of the novel. Although some details are given about Drew’s work at the hospital, for example, the reader is never given any glimpse into his family life. We do not know if he has siblings, or if his parents are still together, or where he is from. On the other hand, we know through Alexa’s sections that she is very close with her sister.
