Summary

The Prologue introduces a character named Szeth-son-son- Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, who will be the first person narrator throughout the Prologue. Szeth begins his narration by telling readers that he has been instructed to wear white in order to kill a king by his masters, the Parshendi. A treaty celebration between the Parshendi and the Alethi is going on around Szeth while he prepares for the assassination. Szeth wonders why the Parshendi want King Gavilar Kholin dead so soon after a treaty has been signed but he knows that it does not matter anyway. On his way to the king's chambers, Szeth comments to himself about the profane use of Stormlight to light the hallways. He is also disturbed by the use of stone to construct the walls and floor as he believes that stone should not be walked upon. However, he cannot avoid...
