Summary

In Chapter 26, the rescue party arrives back in Pennsylvania. They meet with Raymond and make plans for where to send each rescue for the time being. Hiram decides that he wants to return to Lockless to see if he can help free Sophia and other slaves. The other operatives approve of Hiram’s plan. Meanwhile, the Railroad operatives learn that Otha’s former owner plans to sell Otha’s family. The operatives decide to redouble their efforts to recuse Otha’s family. In Chapter 27, Hiram makes plans to return to Virginia, and he finishes all remaining business in Philadelphia. Hiram recalls how Bland promised to convince Corrine to rescue Sophia. Hiram hopes that he can convince Corrine on his own since Bland is now dead. Hiram arrives in Virginia, and Corrine agrees to secretly house him. However, when he asks her to help rescue...
