Grace

Grace is the oldest of the three sisters, and one of the novel's two primary narrators. Her age is not revealed until the end of the novel, but she is 30, two years older than Lia and 12 years older than Sky. Grace and Lia were so similar as children, they were often believed to be twins by the women who came to the island, but in adulthood, the girls are vastly different. Grace is stoic and reserved, never displaying her emotions. When the novel begins, Grace is pregnant, and it seems likely that her baby is the product of incest, as her father, King, is the only man on the island. However, at the end of the novel, Grace explains that King is not her biological father. Nonetheless, their relationship was manipulative and abusive, as King controlled virtually ever aspect of her life, lied to her about the outside...
