Chapter 23 Summary

Harper and Reacher get a confiscated car from the FBI to use to make the drive.

In the meantime, the colonel is staking out Scimeca's house. He watches as the black-and-white cop car takes over for the FBI agent parked in Simeca's driveway.

Reacher and Harper stop for lunch to kill time until the gun seller is set to be at the bar. Reacher tells Harper that he told Jodie about wanting to sell the house and car.

Back at Scimeca's, the colonel watches at the cop goes into Scimeca's house to use the bathroom. The colonel sees that he won't be able to use the cop's bathroom break to attack so he'll have to use the cop's lunch break.

The lunch break won't work either. The colonel watches as another police car pulls up and hands a brown paper bag and drink to the officer outside...
