Chapter 10 Summary

The next morning, Reacher wakes up early. He tries to reach Jodie again, but she still doesn't answer any of her phones. Harper comes to escort him to the Learjet because the colonel has agreed to spend all day with Reacher. When they land at McGuire Air Force Base, a car is waiting for them to drive them to Ft. Dix and to meet with the colonel.

Colonel John Trent greets Reacher and Harper when they arrive. He tells Harper that she has to wait in the outer office lobby because the information he and Reacher have to go through is matter of national security. She hesitates and mentions that she is supposed to watch Reacher at all times. The colonel assures her that there is only one door in and out of the office.

Inside the office, Reacher asks Trent for a gun, which Trent hands...
