Nathaniel Branden

As Rand's professional associate for approximately eighteen years, Nathaniel Branden was the co-editor of The Objectivist Newsletter and wrote five of the essays published in this book. Branden, who has a Ph.D . in psychology, was profoundly interested in psychological and philosophical theories, especially in the psychology of self-esteem, which has been the focus of his career. The author of many books on the subject, Branden has been identified as a leader in the self-esteem movement in psychology.

In this work, it is evident that Rand and Branden influenced each other's philosophical ideas. Throughout Branden's essays, he constantly refers to Rand's speeches and nonfiction and fiction works and rarely cites another philosopher or thinker as his source for his ideas.
