CARE Banquet

The CARE banquet represents an omen of the past’s return. The CARE banquet is organized by Zoe to benefit children in need, but it also exposes Zoe to a great swath of the public. Among those in attendance is Zoe’s old roommate, Molly, who instantly recognizes Zoe. Molly is a part of Zoe’s past made present, meaning the past will soon return in force, and Zoe will be unable to escape it.

Near Hit-and-Run

The near hit-and-run represents an omen of danger. When Zoe is nearly hit by a car, a local vendor explains the car intentionally targeted her. This reveals to Zoe that something is not quite right, and that she is facing some kind of danger as she cannot imagine who would intentionally try to harm her, except someone from her past.
