The next day in Chapter Nine Elena and her friends are wondering about the events the previous night. Bonnie relates to Elena that she had had a dream, imagining that Elena had been standing under an oak tree when she catches a crow unbelievably quickly and then wrings its neck and looks up cruelly.

Stefan later appears with Matt. They had both quickly gone on a road trip at Stefan's insistence to find a plant named vervain.
