The Awakening, Chapters 13-14 Summary

Chapter Thirteen continues after the Halloween Ball and after the subsequent police questioning of the crowd over Mr. Tanner's death. Tyler accuses the now missing Stefan Salvatore and, as soon as she can, Elena escapes to Stefan's boarding house to see if he is okay.

There she lets herself in but does not find him. Instead she finds his room destroyed, cabinets burst open and their contents thrown about since Stefan had flown into a rage. She hears a noise and creeps up to the roof where she sees Stefan feasting upon a dove. Terrified, she tries to run away from the snarling Stefan in his vampire form but slips and falls from the roof. Before hitting the ground, however, she is caught and held, only to discover that it is Stefan himself who has saved her...
