Nationalism

The Unlikely Spy is a story about the world at war and the people from those nations who have joined together to fight. The characters in this novel are primarily from England and Germany, pitted against each other for their very existence. Germany is intent upon invading England and adding the British Isles to its empire and England is fighting with everything it has.

The people of Britain are steadfast and grim. Every citizen is doing what they can for the war effort. In Germany, the people are fearful and the ruling Nazis are ruthless and determined to win. German citizens are forced to serve as spies in order to keep their families from being murdered.

Nationalism is the tendency of humans to defend their national place of origin. Such defense can be executed as a soldier, a volunteer for an organization that is helping the war effort...
