Chapters 49 - 52 Summary

In Chapter 49, Noah and Mara attend the seminar they saw advertised. When the speaker, Mr. Lukumi, makes eye contact with Mara his eyes widen in surprise. At the end of the seminar, Noah goes to speak to Mr. Lukumi while Mara explores the store. She accidently knocks a candle off the shelf, breaking it. Mr. Lukumi orders her to get out. Noah offers him $5,000 to help them. They hear him kill a chicken in the back room. Then he brings Mara a concoction to drink that he says will help her to remember what happened. Mara struggles to drink the thin red liquid. She blacks out as soon as she finishes it.
