Chapters 17 -20 Summary

In Chapter 17, Mara dreams the same dream from Chapter 16 three nights in a row. Thinking about Mabel helps to keep her mind off the dream. On Monday, Noah isn't in class, so she can't find out how the dog is doing. After her English class, Mara is surprised to see that her sketchbook is full of drawings of Noah. She feels a tap on her shoulder but doesn't realize someone has taped a sign with the word "slut" on it until she sits down in her Spanish class. She throws the paper at Anna, who is roaring with laughter.

Noah appears at lunchtime and tells Mara that Mabel is hanging in. He asks her to have dinner with him that weekend. Mara tries to decline. She goes to the girls' bathroom, but he follows her. He seems truly curious to find...
