Chapters 5 - 8 Summary

In Chapter 5, when Mara looks away from the boy who spoke he disappears. She goes to her Algebra class. When she opens the door, she hallucinates that cracks are spreading up the walls of the classroom filling the room with dust and causing light fixtures to fall. Mara tries to avoid what she believes to be a falling fixture and falls. She smacks face first into the floor, causing her nose to bleed. The teacher calls for someone to get a nurse but Mara gets up to avoid the nurse and goes to the restroom to clean up. Once in the restroom, Mara tries to calm herself, afraid that she will panic at the sight of her own blood. When she finally feels that she is calm enough, Mara looks in the mirror. The face she sees is not her own...
