Chapters 1 and 2 Summary

"The Ghost" is set in the Summer of 97 A.V. In chapter one, at the Orphanage of the Order of the Sisters in Kerrville, Texas, Amy is looking after children. Her last stop of the evening is at the bedside of Caleb who always asks Amy to tell him about his parents, Theo and Mausami. Caleb says he sometimes "sees" his parents though they are dead. Amy tells him to go to sleep and reminds him that his Uncle Peter will soon arrive with the Texas Expeditionary Army. Caleb says he's overheard talk that Amy is "very old," a fact of which she was unaware. She leaves the orphanage and goes to the wall where she calls to "them," in search of Wolgast.
