Sugar Man Swamp

The Sugar Man Swamp is a large swamp area in the Bayou Tourterelle and the main setting of the novel. The mythical Sugar Man resides in the deepest part of the swamp with his personal assistant, the rattlesnake Gertrude. The swamp is also watched by the raccoons as the Official Sugar Swamp Scouts. The entire swamp has been passed down through generations of Beaucoops, starting with the pirate captain Aloicious Beaucoop. He signed a contract in blood that he and all of his descendants would do whatever it takes to protect the swamp in exchange for the ability to live there peacefully. This arrangement is destroyed when current Beaucoop heir, Sonny Boy, decides that he would rather have money than the swamp so he decides to sell it to World Gator Wrestling Champion Jaeger Stitch.
