The Burning Maze

The Burning Maze is a portion of a Labyrinth that is implied to exist underground, and links to multiple places in both space and time. This part of the maze, however, is a new piece that is underneath California and is responsible for the forest fires, drought, and death of the dryads in the areas. While it is spread out under numerous cities, the entrance that leads to the Sibyl is in downtown Los Angeles. It is later revealed that the fires are actually the essence of the former sun god, Helios, who was removed from the chaos by his granddaughter, the sorceress Medea. Apollo and the others free the former god by killing Medea after rescuing the Sibyl.
