Gender Equality

In the previous books the subject of gender isn’t really touched upon. Camp Half-Blood has a very diverse population, and despite being the main character Percy tends to share his accomplishments with Annabeth. What’s interesting about Titan’s Curse is that it initially twists the usual young adult trope of the male characters underestimating the female characters. Instead, it is the all-female Hunters that see men as being the weaker and ultimately inferior gender.

Artemis only recruits young women because she believes that if they are too old their minds aren’t going to be pure and dedicated to the hunt because they will be distracted by boys.
