Chapters 21-25 Summary

Mitch is driving in a car with his new acquisition, a dog called Shirley. He had earlier visited the Washington Humane society looking for a dog that did not bark, and they recommended Shirley. Mitch parks on Lingomore Drive and takes Shirley for a jog.

Irene Kennedy is on her way to see Stansfield and talk to him about taking over his position when he passes away. She says the Republicans like her because of her tough stance on terrorism. Rapp is also at Stansfield's house—the difference is that he is not invited. He checks out the house for security, but like so many important people in America, Stanfield's house is not well protected.
