Summary

In Chapter 12: "The Ash Door," Locke was waiting for January when she arrived in the hay field. She felt as if she had circled back in time. Locke tried to explain to January that he did not want their world to turn into the sort of lawless world in which he had grown up. He said he had found a better world and had been working to improve it for two centuries. When January questioned the math, he told her he the jade cup from which he always drank had the properties of extending a person’s life. Locke was not only the chairman of the Society, but also its Founder.
