Summary

Emily can’t help but go out again that night and this time she swims out into deeper water, wanting to explore. She leaves the bay and swims through cold and warm patches, noting the sandy or sea urchin bottom. Tired, she finally pulls herself up onto a rock to rest. She watches her legs return, still feeling weird about the transformation.

Sitting there, Emily hears what sounds like singing. Emily climbs up a jagged rock and looking over it, she is stunned to see a mermaid sitting there. Her tail is longer and sleeker than Emily’s and it is a silvery green color. The mermaid continues to sing the same song again and again until finally Emily clears her throat politely.

She takes one look at Emily and is gone in a splash. Emily calls out to her and explains that...
