Structure

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck is divided into nine chapters of roughly equal length. The majority of the chapters are approximately 20 pages long, with the exception of Chapter 6 which is closer to 35 pages, and Chapter 7 which is roughly 10 pages. The chapters are structured thematically according to topic. The first four deal with central overarching themes and tenets that speak to both Manson's personal philosophy and to the issues he sees with the broader cultural ethos. These include the nature of happiness, the issue of entitlement, and the value of suffering. The final five chapters each explore counterintuitive values that Manson believes are essential and beneficial for everyone to adopt.
