The Litter Summary

One of the mother dogs, Iris, is about to give birth to a litter. Gar asks Edgar if Edgar would like the litter to be his. Edgar happily agrees to take on the responsibility. He keeps watch over Iris the next few days as Iris nears birth. Gar instructs his son on how to help Iris with the birth. Four girls and three boy puppies are born. Edgar spends the night with Almondine and the dictionary in the search for names for the pups.

The Litter Analysis

Gar gives Edgar his own litter of puppies. This act will prove compelling and important in future chapters. Edgar is happy to take on the job of caring for and training an entire litter. Almondine, faithful and loyal as always, continues watching out for Edgar.
