Summary

Elena passes with less than standard grades, a testament to how far behind she had grown after Lila's wedding. She feels despair at doing so poorly, but the Professor gives her some books for the next term. She's not feeling at her best--he's lost Antonio, and by proxy his sister Ada. She looks for Nino at the school, but sees his girlfriend. Lila, she finds, is angry at her for going with Stefano to the dressmaker without telling her. Lila has cooled towards her, neither heated nor rude, but she doesn't confide in Elena anymore. She goes to Lila's house one day, and Rino and Pinuccia both show up as well.
