Summary

Page 99 – 103— Dinesh makes his way out of the jungle. When he reaches the edge of the camp, he stops to look at the tents in the moonlight. He hears gunfire in the distance, but the camp itself is silent. He walks carefully past the sleeping evacuees, marveling at the feeling of being awake while everybody else is asleep. He watches their faces as he passes, discerning by facial expressions which had only just fallen asleep and which has been asleep for hours. Dinesh takes even greater caution to not disturb those in deep sleep. He feels as if the silence of the sleepers is sacred and imagines that they are in the presence of something beautiful and elusive within themselves.

As he walks Dinesh wonders if he should have been trying harder to sleep the past few months. For years he has considered sleep...
