Summary

Page 75 - 89—Dinesh sits in the sleeping space next to Ganga and remembers the day he left home. When the fight between the movement and the government came close to his village, Dinesh and his mother packed up their belongings and got ready to leave. People had already begun evacuating before the movement issued the order over the village PA system. Dinesh and his mother hired a tractor to take them and two other families, along with all of their respective belongings, deeper into the movement’s territory. Dinesh recalls that he felt a sense of satisfaction of leaving his house empty, having packed everything he possibly could to take with him. Dinesh also recalls that being displaced was not new to him or his mother, so they did not worry about their situation too much. At most, they thought they would be gone...
