Summary

Bhima turns and is delighted to see that it is Dinaz calling to them. Maya tells her to go ahead and she will wait there. Bhima insists on Maya coming with her and grabs her by the wrist. Dinaz greets them and sees Maya looking at her pregnant belly. She comments on how big she looks. Dinaz says she was looking that way, too, until Sera “fixed” her (254). Sera tells her that is in the past and says Maya should come talk to her about going back to college. Maya mumbles and looks away. Bhima notices that Viraf is staring at Maya and looks flustered. He looks as though he feels guilty about something. Dinaz says it is time for them to go. Viraf goes to get the car. Dinaz hugs Maya and offers her condolences.
