Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is where the story begins. Juan Dahlmann has spent his entire life in the Argentinian capital. But after many years, he decides to leave because he believes he must fulfil his destiny and live on the ranch bequeathed to him by his maternal grandfather, Francisco Flores. However, he is only able to leave the city after he sustains a head injury.

The Sanitarium

The sanitarium is where Dahlmann is treated for his head injury. Dahlmann realizes that the hellish few days he has spent recovering in his apartment have been nothing compared to the torment he experiences at the sanitarium. Here, the doctors strap him to a stretcher, shave his head, and inject him with numerous drugs. He becomes euphoric when the doctors release him.
