Chapter 3 Pages 217-234 Summary

Eli and Charlie pick up Tub to leave. Eli says Tub is learning how to work with one eye. Eli and Charlie go to the ferry to board it. When they reach Sacramento, they ride their horses off the ferry. Charlie speaks to Eli about how they are planning to deal with Warm. They decide to kill Morris first, extract the formula from Warm and then slowly kill him.

Charlie asks Eli why they are doing this for the commodore. So, they start to plan how they can get the formula for themselves and then escape the wrath of the commodore. They plan to kill the commodore so it looks like he dies in his sleep and then to return a few days later without the formula.

They go to the river, where they find a sign from Warm...
