The Cemetery of Forgotten Books Summary

Summer of 1945, Barcelona, Daniel Sempere, a young boy of 10, is taken to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books by his father, a second hand book merchant. The Cemetery of Forgotten books is a secret place, where there is a huge collection of books that have been forgotten or have fallen into oblivion, so that they never be totally lost. Isaac, the guardian of the book cemetery, explained that it was customary that those who go to the Cemetery for the first time adopt a book, which they will protect and care for. Daniel chooses a book, The Shadow of the Wind, written by an unknown author, Julian Carax. Mr. Sempere and Isaac swear Daniel to secrecy, not even his best friend, Tomás could be told about the book cemetery.
