Chapters 5-8 Summary

In Chapter 5, Carter, Sadie, and the other magicians from Brooklyn House go to a school dance. Carter is there reluctantly, so Sadie pushes one of her mortal friends on him in an attempt to encourage him to relax and dance. Sadie then begins to mingle when she is suddenly set upon by the school bullies. As Sadie faces off with these girls, everyone is shocked when she is joined by an astoundingly handsome young man. Anubis takes Sadie to the dance floor where he attempts to speak to her about her fight with Apophis. Anubis tells Sadie they are on the right track in thinking of using Apophis's shadow against him. Anubis urges Sadie to hurry, however, as time is of the essence. Something is happening to the souls of the dead as Apophis continues to gather strength. Anubis then tells...
